Many years pass after a city is torn in two by an earthquake that opened a vast fissure that runs into the distance.
One Hundred Years From Catastrophe
Venezuela

Five Minutes
Far Reaching
Monumental
. . .
Families, friends, young and old, those with no-one, those in love. Some who knew only of this place, others who came to live here from far and wide. Rich, poor, strong and weak. Within five short minutes as the earth shook, buildings broke, the land cracked. For days many tried, desperate to free those trapped before the silence fell. The loss of life and sadness was immeasurable.
It did not matter who knew who. We helped as best we could. We built again. Nothing stopped our will to make. Our need and acts to honour those who suffered here. Nothing will.
